Jerin Damo
Jerin Damo is an of-counsel attorney at Setter Roche Smith & Shellenberger, LLP. Jerin focuses his practice on family and juvenile law, including dependency & neglect, dissolution of marriage, allocation of parental responsibilities, guardianships of minors, and adoptions.
Jerin attended law school at the University of Denver and completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Cincinnati with honors. During law school, Jerin participated in internships at the Colorado Office of the Child’s Representative, the Rocky Mountain Children’s Law Center, and the National Association of Counsel for Children.
Prior to joining Setter Roche Smith & Shellenberger, Jerin practiced as a Guardian ad litem (GAL) and Counsel for Youth (CFY) primarily in the 8th, 19th, and 20th Judicial Districts, advocating for children and youth in dependency & neglect, truancy, juvenile delinquency, underage marriage, and Foster Youth in Transition Program matters. Jerin served as a law clerk to the Hon. Norma A. Sierra of the 20th Judicial District Court and practiced as an Assistant County Attorney with the Adams County Attorney’s Office before accepting his GAL/CFY contract with the Colorado Office of the Child’s Representative.
During his time advocating for children and youth in the child welfare system, Jerin has successfully litigated a number of complex cases at both the trial court and appellate court levels. Consequently, Jerin has become deeply experienced and knowledgeable in state and federal law pertaining to children and youth.
